LIVE PERFORMANCES
Live performances are the form of art that reveals Lanka’s artistic identity most prominently. Her performances with musical accompaniment are both the most challenging and the most inspiring form of calligraphy for Lanka. While allowing the timeframe and the rhythm to guide her movements, scribing a certain sequence of kanji characters in one go in front of the audience is the challenge for her. And the ephemerality and uniqueness of the moment that remains in the resulting work even after the magic of the moment has passed is the most inspiring for both the artist and the spectators.
